Cash gifts rained on Kano Health Workers at the 2023 Heroic Discovery And Community Development Center (HEDCODEC)’s Heroic Award on Saturday as ten frontline health workers honoured with an award of excellence.
The award commemorated the 2023 United Nations Public Service Day to recognize outstanding frontline health workers working in Primary Healthcare Centres in Nigeria, titled ‘Dr. Aminu Magashi Annual Heroic Health Award’ in collaboration with Aminu Magashi Garba (AMG) Foundation.
Malam Sulaiman Jalo, Director Operations, (AMG) Foundation announcing the cash gift to the awardees during the presentation said five males, and five females health workers will e giving a cash prize of twenty-five thousand naira (N25,000) award plaques, certificates, to each of the awardees.
The Programme Director of HEDCODEC, Monsurah Abdullahi, represented by Zainab Nasir Ahmad, of YOSPIS a partner NGO to the Programme, narrated how the awardees were selected based on the creation of a link to Google form with the advert on various social media platforms seeking entries from Kano and Abuja for ten days, and 27 entries were recorded accordingly, ten were selected based on competence.
Jibrin Muhammad Nas who received the award of Most Punctual Staff of the Year from Kwararrafa Primary Healthcare Center, Kwara Goje expressed his happiness and said the award came to him as a surprise because he never knew he will be chosen for this category despite his punctuality habit in his working place.
Hafsat Ibrahim Saminu, a volunteer with Dan Tsinke Primary Healthcare Facility who received the award of Most Hygienic Staff express her heartfelt gratitude to the AMG Foundation for finding her worthy of recognition. She later advised her colleagues to work hard with good intentions.
Some of the personalities in attendance were the Director of Admin and General Services of Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board, Mal. Suleiman Tanimu who was represented by Dr. Sharif Yahaya Musa, Director of Medical Services of the board, Dr. Musa Muhammad Bello, HOD Community Medicine, BUK, and Dr. Alhassan Umar Adamu, President of Nigeria Cancer Society among others.
